The rovinieta covers not only motorways but the charged national road network in general. Since 1 October 2026 the price depends on the vehicle category and its Euro emission class – see the section below.
Have your VIN ready
The Romanian rovinieta is registered against both the number plate and the VIN, for every validity period. We need the VIN before the order is completed: it is how we check with the operator whether the vehicle already holds a valid vignette, so you do not buy a second one for the same dates. The VIN is the vehicle's 17-character code; it is in the registration documents, and usually also on a plate in the door frame or behind the windscreen.
Vehicle categories in Romania
Since 1 October 2026 Romania distinguishes four categories labelled A to D. What decides is the type of vehicle and, for buses, the number of seats; the Euro emission class also sets the price.
A – Car (up to 9 seats)
Passenger cars with up to 9 seats including the driver. The most common category and the lowest rate.
B – Trucks and vans up to 3.5 t
Goods vehicles and vans with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tonnes.
C – Buses with 10–23 seats
Minibuses and buses with 10 to 23 seats including the driver.
D – Bus over 23 seats
Buses and coaches with more than 23 seats.

EURO emission classes and Romanian vignette prices
When ordering a Romanian vignette, you select your vehicle's emission class: EURO 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 or Electric. For pricing purposes, these classes are divided into four tariff groups: EURO 0–3, EURO 4–5, EURO 6 and electric vehicles. Most newer passenger cars meet the EURO 6 emission standard, while older vehicles may fall into EURO 4 or EURO 5. You can find the correct emission class in your vehicle documents. If you are unsure, select EURO 0.

How to Order a Vignette?
